Hotel Rangá, Iceland

An hour drive outside of Reykjavik and you’ll find yourself by the steps of the beautiful Hotel Rangá.

Nestled between the towns of Hella and Hvolsvöllur, Hotel Rangá is the only four star resort in southern Iceland. It’s built in a log-cabin style that oozes warmth and coziness as soon as you walk in.

You also can’t miss the ten-foot tall polar bear (nicknamed Hrammur) who greets you at the hotel lobby!

There are fifty one luxuriously decorated rooms and suites including the renowned continental suites, designed and themed after the continents, and a master royal suite.

Warm interiors and snug little corners that just make you want to pour yourself a large cup of tea and snuggle up under the covers.

There is also an acclaimed riverside restaurant for fine dining, a lounge and a bar. I can’t recommend the restaurant enough! I had two dinners whilst staying at Hotel Rangá and they were both incredible. Fresh, seasonal and local ingredients with really generous servings.

A beautifully decorated games room for escaping those chilly Nordic evenings as you wait patiently for the slightest glimpse of the Northern Lights.

Being in the middle of nowhere, there’s really not much to do here except sit by the fire, crack open a bottle of wine and go back to some good old boardgames!

The sun doesn’t rise till about ten am in the winters which makes it perfect for you to lie in and still be able to catch the first rays of sunshine.

I stayed at Hotel Rangá for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The decor, the hospitality and the dining were all beyond amazing. I highly recommend a visit for a lovely little escape from the city.
