As the days get longer, London opens its doors to countless pop-up rooftop bars and al-fresco dining, all basking in the (fingers crossed!) sunshine. One of these happens to be Street Feast, taking place in the east end of London.
Street Feast is an evening food market held every year for the last few years in Dalston Yard with the who’s who of London street food, all presenting their very best! The selection of food on offer is mind-blowing and I highly recommend going in a group so that you can order one (two, or three!) of everything and try a bite of each. Trust me, you’ll have some major food envy if you decide to stick to just one thing!
The market takes place in a partially open and run down warehouse, adding to the cool and edgy east London vibe. It’s hipster galore out here!
We made sure to have a wander around the entire space before getting in a queue for some mouthwatering bites.
We began our feast with chicken wings from The Orange Buffalo. Drenched in hot sauce, these New York-style wings were deliciously tangy and juicy.
Hidden right at the back of the warehouse is the Gin Store, boasting a collection of 44 gins (and counting); some of the best in the world.
Probably one of my favourites finds at the market; the Bacon Cheeseburger from Bleeker St Burger. Bringing the best of New York-style burgers to London, these guys just know burgers and are quickly becoming an institution since landing in Street Feast a few years ago! One of the softest and juciest I have ever tried!
So good that it deserves its own close up.
It’s safe to say that Bleeker St Burger was a sure hit with everyone!
On the prowl for more bites and nibbles!
Did I mention how difficult it is to blog about one of the best food markets in London with four boys around? I was just about lucky enough to get one or two decent shots of each dish before I started getting ‘the look’ from all of them. The look of, ‘you better be done with your photos as I need this in my mouth ASAP!’
I first fell in love with fish tacos on trip to New York a couple years ago so I just couldn’t miss the Baja Fish Tacos from Breddos Tacos.
Hot pieces of fish fried in batterf, placed on soft tortilla with cool salsa and tangy lime drizzled on top.
There are very few tables scattered around so I’d be prepared to eat on your feet. There are also a few fire pits to warm your cockles (we’re still in England, after all!). Overall, I’d say Street Feast is a must-visit this summer.
It’s now on at Dalston Yard every Friday and Saturday from 5 pm to midnight till the 26th of September and the closest stations are Dalston Junction and Dalston Kingland Overgound. So grab a group of your friends and pig out with a couple of beers at hand while the sun is still out!
