You know it’s Christmas time in London when Hyde Park opens its doors to the annual Winter Wonderland!
Winter Wonderland is a magical, festive explosion in the heart of London, teeming with food, drinks, rides, markets and all the joys of Christmas! It’s by far one of my favourite things to do this time of the year to get into the festive mood. The best part is that it’s for anyone and everyone; I hardly know of anyone who hasn’t enjoyed their time spent here.
This notorious giant ferris wheel (not to be mistaken for the London Eye!) and the various rides can be seen from across the city, lighting up the otherwise dreary winter nights.
Markets and decorations and treats galore! This is a great place to pick up additions for your tree, nibbles for Christmas dinners or even gifts for your loved ones.
Don’t forget to wrap up warm as it can get extremely chilly after spending just an hour in this open air attraction.
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire…
My favourite part of Winter Wonderland, a good old German Bratwurst smothered in caramelised onions and slathered with ketchup and mustard. I went for the one with bacon inside!
While the majority of the rides any more child-friendly attractions are towards the front, if you head towards the back, you’ll find a more adult-focused area with bars, live music and seating.
I couldn’t leave without a bite or two of dessert! Especially in the form of a Nutella and banana crepe!
Christmas may be over but Winter Wonderland is still open for another week (till 4th Jan) if you haven’t had a chance to visit yet, from 10 am to 10 pm everyday. The closest stations are Hyde Park Corner & Marble Arch however, these do get extremely busy so it is advised to take these alternative stations which are a short walk way as well: Green Park, Victoria & Paddington.
