On a gloomy Sunday afternoon, pouring down with rain, there is nothing better to do than to slip into a pair of wellies (or in my case, high wedge sneakers), skip down to Westbourne Grove and fill your belly with a wholesome brunch at Granger & Co.
I had been reading about Granger & Co on various blogs over the last few months so decided to brave the rain and check out what all the fuss was about myself. I was not disappointed! Created by Australian restauranteur and food writer, Bill Granger, Granger & Co offers dishes that are modern, fresh and produce-driven with a relaxed Aussie feel.
We started off with Bill’s Greens which is a green juice consisting of green apple, cucumber, silver beet, chia seed & young coconut. And to go with it, Courgette Chips with nigella seed and tahini yoghurt. Both were incredibly fresh and delicious!
We then dug into the Full Aussie Breakfast – scrambled eggs, sourdough toast, bacon, roast tomato, miso chestnut mushrooms & chipolatas and Scrambled Eggs on Sourdough Toast with a side of avocado & chipolatas.
Their scrambled eggs are one of the best that I’ve tried – smooth and buttery and presented in a way that makes them look like mashed potatoes! Can’t go wrong there.
I would suggest arriving early or being prepared to wait in a rather long queue which continues throughout the day! Unfortunately, they don’t take bookings. A clear sign that this is the place to brunch in west London!
Granger & Co is located on 175 Westbourne Grove, W11 2SB and the closest tube station is Notting Hill Gate. You can find out more information here.
